Reliable internet access and the ability to use digital technology are increasingly essential to our businesses, communities, and everyday lives. LCEDC oversees the Lincoln County Broadband Commission and works with local, regional, and state partners to support high-speed internet service expansion, improve access to information, and connect residents and businesses with resources that help them make effective use of technology.

To support efforts that efficiently and cost-effectively expand access to affordable, high-quality internet service and improve technology utilization throughout Lincoln County.

Every Lincoln County resident, business, and visitor can reliably access affordable quality internet service options that meet their unique needs.
Our Goals

Support coordination and communication among internet service providers, residents, businesses, and government partners to help complete planned internet service expansion projects and track progress toward countywide coverage.

Advocate for residents and businesses regarding internet service installation, access, reliability, and utilization, including long-term maintenance needs and alignment with evolving technology standards.

Identify and share funding opportunities and other resources, and support partners in pursuing those opportunities, to advance the implementation and effective utilization of accessible internet services and relevant technology tools.

Identify & promote access to technology-related educational and self-help resources that strengthen digital skills, confidence, and effective technology use, while encouraging partners to address identified resource gaps.

Identify and encourage opportunities for community coordination and collaboration to address current and emerging technology-related challenges.
The Lincoln County Broadband Commission (LCBC) is a collaborative group housed under LCEDC that works to advance access affordable, and reliable internet service throughout Lincoln County. The Commission brings together residents, local governments, businesses, educational institutions, internet service providers, and other stakeholders to coordinate broadband expansion efforts, identify resources and funding opportunities, and promote the effective use of digital technology.

Technology can open doors to education, employment, business opportunities, and everyday services - but understanding how to use it effectively be a challenge. Explore free and low-cost learning resources, online tutorials, and local organizations that can help you build confidence using computers, smartphones, the internet, and common software programs.
Online Trainings & Resources
Access free, self-paced online courses through Microsoft and LinkedIn Learning to build digital skills, explore career pathways, and earn professional credentials. Whether you're a student, looking to grow in your job, or trying something new, these courses are flexible and designed to fit into your life.
Learnfree offers more than 2,300 free lessons covering computers, smartphones, email, internet safety, Microsoft Office, Google applications, and everyday life skills. Lessons include videos and self-paced tutorials.
Developed by the Public Library Association, DigitalLearn provides free, self-paced courses in English and Spanish. Topics include using a computer, navigating websites, searching online, email, cybersecurity, and common digital applications. Its short video-based modules are designed for beginning learners
Senior Planet from AARP offers free, instructor-led online technology classes designed for older adults. Topics include smartphones, internet safety, video conferencing, online services, social media, and emerging technologies. The site also provides articles, videos, and other educational resources.
Local Technology Training & Assistance
The T.B. Scott Free Library in Merrill provides access to public computers, free
Wi-Fi, digital learning resources, Computer Coaching sessions, and assistance using eBooks, audiobooks, and personal devices. Contact the library to learn about available technology support and upcoming programs.
The Tomahawk library provides free public computer access, Wi-Fi, online learning resources, and technology-enabled community programming. Its Tinker Tuesday program also incorporates STEAM activities for school-age children. Contact the library for information about available technology assistance and upcoming classes.

The library has computers available for community use and offers personalized help.
Nicolet College builds computer and digital literacy skills through introductory courses, software training, and other educational opportunities. Explore flexible learning options for personal enrichment, academic preparation, and career development. In-person academic assistance is available at Tomahawk Library.
