Women
The Center for Women's Business Research provides data-driven knowledge that advances the economic, social and political impact of women business owners and their enterprises. This data driven knowledge provides the business imperative for embracing women business owners as customers, suppliers, community leaders, public policy influencers and role models for business leadership.
Founded in 1989, the Womens Business Center was the first incubator in the nation to teach entrepreneurship or intrapreneurship to women according to a development methodology designed specifically for women.
The Office of Women’s Business Ownership's mission is to establish and oversee a network of Women’s Business Centers (WBCs) throughout the United States and its territories. Through the management and technical assistance provided by the WBCs, entrepreneurs, especially women who are economically or socially disadvantaged, are offered comprehensive training and counseling on a vast array of topics in many languages to help them start and grow their own businesses.

Who We Are:
The Division of Entrepreneurship and Economic Development (DEED) fosters, supports and coordinates entrepreneurship and economic development activities occurring at the University of Wisconsin campuses and the communities they serve. We do this through partnerships with governmental entities, educational institutions, non-profit organizations and the business community.
What We Do:
DEED, via the Small Business Development Centers and the Wisconsin Entrepreneurs’ Network, helps entrepreneurs create new businesses and grow existing businesses by providing training; information about financial, technology and other resources; one-on-one business counseling; and networking opportunities.
